Surah Al-Alaq, verse 1
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ

Surah Al-Alaq, verse 2
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
Created man from a clot.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 3
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
Read: And your Lord is the Most Generous.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 4
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
He who taught by the pen.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 5
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Taught man what he never knew.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
In fact, man oversteps all bounds.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 7
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
When he considers himself exempt.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 8
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
But to your Lord is the return.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 9
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
Have you seen him who prevents?
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 10
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
A servant when he prays?
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 11
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
Do you think he is upon guidance?
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 12
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
Or advocates righteousness?
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 13
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
Do you see how he disbelieved and turned away?
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 14
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Does he not know that God sees?
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
No. If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 16
نَاصِيَةٍۢ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍۢ
A deceitful, sinful forelock.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 17
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
Let him call on his gang.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 18
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
We will call the Guards.
Surah Al-Alaq, verse 19
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
No, do not obey him; but kneel down, and come near.
